You will find on this page all the information concerning the workshop.

Since September 2015 Albert and Neus have been training and teaching Balboa regularly in Barcelona and internationally since 2017. Their classes mainly focus on the technique, with special emphasis on the foundations and the connection with the partner, in order to become a team where the two dancers can express themselves individually while flying on the dance floor as one.

Albert has been dancing Balboa since 2005 and teaching internationally since 2011. His passion for this dance has made him one of the driving forces behind the creation and growth of a community of Balboa dancers in Barcelona, which is increasing day by day. He has developed his own style with a particularly musical way of combining Pure Bal and Bal Swing. He has won various international Balboa competitions such as the Eurobal Cup in 2011, the BOTP Classic Open in 2013 and the Easter Balboa Championships in 2013. He came second in the Open Social of the ABW 2017 in Cleveland.

Neus became acquainted with Balboa in 2010 and since then she has combined her balboa fascination with Lindy Hop and other swing dances, dancing, training and teaching locally, wanting to learn more and share her passion. For her a day without dancing and without having tried and learned something new is a wasted day. She won the J'n'J at the Toulouse Balboa Festival 2017.

As instructors, Andreas and Olga emphasise partnership, musicality and follow-lead abilities. They have an easy-going, relaxed way of teaching. They are known for giving well-structured classes and always trying to give their students a lot of individual feedback. Their ambition is to create playful classes filled with interesting footwork, figures, fun tasks and laughter.

Olga was born into a family of teachers (language and music) and since her early years she has been an energetic live wire – studying music, doing athletics, martial arts and gymnastics. In 2007 she was introduced to Lindy Hop and this is where the real passion story begins. She got dance hooked and started to explore more of the dance world by getting into Blues and later Balboa. She has been actively travelling the globe in pursuit of more opportunities to dance, learn and compete. Later she began teaching in order to share her love for swing music and dance. In her classes Olga pays a lot of attention to getting the students interested and involved by giving challenging and fun tasks, working both on technique and musicality and infecting them even more with the passion for dancing.

Andreas Olsson lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up on the wrestling mat, fighting other little boys in leotards. He won most of the time as he’s always given 100% in everything he does. He also played the violin in an orchestra during his childhood. You might not think classical music and wrestling have much in common with Swing dancing, but it has definitely contributed to him becoming the unpredictable, creative, musical and interesting dancer he is today.

Andreas was introduced to Lindy Hop in 2001 and a few years later to Balboa. Andreas teaches dance because he loves to see students learn and improve. As Andreas sees it, teaching is inspiring since it offers a possibility to contribute to the ever-changing dance style and scene.
Andreas claims to be the unchallenged record holder (so far!) of most hours spent on social swing dance floors in Stockholm. He is an energiser bunny, and only takes a break to change into another colourful tie.

He has been placed in a number of prestigious competitions in both Lindy Hop and Balboa around the world with a number of well known swing dancers. He is also a history lover and one of the very few marine archaeologists in the world. Ask him about the ”Vasa ship” or ”Viking ships”.

  • Intermediate+ : you have been dancing balboa for several years; you regularly dance socially on all tempos.
  • Advanced : you are an experienced dancer, you are a familiar face of festivals and workshops, you are at ease on all tempos, with all variations and elaborate footwork, and you can adapt your dance to the music.

For everyone to benefit from the best teaching possible it is important that you choose your level honestly and that you stick to it during the week-end. Do not change level without having spoken to the teachers and the organisers.

For the advanced level there will be a test prior to the start of the classes (12 - 1pm).

In order to ensure parity, dancing couples must register for the same level.
